The Hochschule Mainz is planning a new campus. But what is going to happen with the abandoned building in town? We thought of a get-together with refugees needs and the some necessary purposes of the people in Mainz.
garden connection 2016
Sascha Urban worked in his master thesis on fallow land in the north of Frankfurt. In participatory processes with the the owners – a handicapped aid initiative – Urban designed a game board and -plan how the space could be developed. The territories are ready now for the conquerors from the surrounding areas …
The University of Mainz exhibits at about 10 students fairs per year to advertise the contents of the various courses. For the transporter of the university a flexible exhibition system has been designed, which can be transported and set up by one person. Special solutions were planned in detail down to 1: 1.
Golden Ground 2014
For an extreme small gap between buildings specialized craftsperson in Mainz should get a new home for living and working. The examination of manufacturing noodles, tapestry or glas formed the concept and lead to haptic designs with the main focus on material and a strong sculptural expression.
Fortune Cookies 2014
Joy – luck – fortune – happiness? What is what and how do we gain a piece of it with something designed? Questions on the conditions of happiness leaded to drafts, plans and concepts, working with unknown street persons as well as our friends at home. Happiness is a gift to be given away.
Connect and Share 2013
Three different public urban spaces were offered to find architectural answers to connect people and share something together. Solutions ranged from contemporary “agoras” to public kitchens or workshops and pet stations.

In this Mastercourse we thought about the task to design spaces for funereal and grief in the matter of social function. The solutions spread from “Memorials for the dead German soldiers in the Afghanistan war” and “Graveyard chapels” to “Rooms for baby burial services”
